Many people who have been reported to ChexSystems, have the misconception that they will automatically be removed from ChexSystems after they’ve filed or been discharged from bankruptcy. This is not the case. What is reported to ChexSystems has nothing to do with your credit report. They are separate entities.
To get your name removed from ChexSystems, you’ll have to send a request to ChexSystems and provide proof of bankruptcy filing or discharge.
There’s a couple of ways you can request a removal:
1. You can write a request letter and include a copy of your bankruptcy documents. Your request should be mailed to:
Chex Systems, Inc.
Attn: Consumer Relations
7805 Hudson Road, Suite 100
Woodbury, MN 55125
2. Send the removal request by fax to: (602) 659-2197. When sending the fax, be sure to include a fax cover sheet, your request, and a copy of your bankruptcy documents.
Chances are, if you have valid bankruptcy documents either filed or discharged after you were reported, ChexSystems will mostlikely remove your name from their blacklist.
